Simple Superhet Receiver

I have finished the Simple Superhet, or at least my version of it. In testing it with my First Transmitter. I have noticed that the transmitter does not seem to be on the same frequency as the tone given by the spot button. Hmm, that's not in the design blueprint.

Perhaps old hands are familiar with this type of thing. Does the transmitter pull the frequency? Is it on the same frequency, but it just sounds like it is on a different frequency because the transmitter is so close to the receiver? It does not help that I am poor at judging tones. (Tone deaf by most people's estimation). I'm up North at the Vacation home, so I don't have a test bench here. I need to get it back to New York and scrutinize it with a frequency counter.

Hello Chris, Firstly I want to wish you a Happy New Year. Then, the link to your Simple Superhet for 40m does not work for me, it always returns a 406 error. I do not know if there is a problem in my computer or in your site, so please check it. TIA
